Hakuna Matata...

"...it means no worries, for the rest of your days."

There are no words to describe Walt Disney. Literally, I'm just gonna sit here and look at my screen until the words come to me. I mean, c'mon, WHAT can I say?! He speaks for himself!

How about we start out with a few facts about it? Okay? Okay.

Disney was founded in 1923 by Mr. Walt Disney & his brother, Ray O. Disney as the 'Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio'. It was also operated under the names 'The Walt Disney Studios' and 'Walt Disney Productions'. It eventually got its current name in 1986. 

Mr. Walt Disney, died due to lung cancer in 1966, which is when his brother Roy took over as CEO, chairman, and president of the company. In honour of his brother and his vision, as his first act as owner, he renamed 'Disney World' as 'Walt Disney World'. 

Now, I'm not gonna start writing every single fact that I can find on the web about Disney, so I'm going to talk about one movie specifically.

The Lion King. 

I watched 'The Lion King' this evening, and after watching it I realised that it is, indeed, my favourite Disney film.

This film makes me feel every emotion a human can possibly feel. It's funny, sad, incredibly frustrating (especially when Scar takes over the 'Pride Lands'), it's witty, and is a movie classic. OH! And don't even get me started on the music in this movie classic! The music just magnifies all the emotions I mentioned above. 

What I also love about Disney is that, whatever idea they've decided to create and bring to life, it's always educational. 

In 'The Lion King' they use real Swahili words as the names of the characters in the story. For example:

- Mufasa (Simba's father) means 'king',

- Simba means 'lion',

- Sabari (Simba's mother) means 'mirage',

- Nala (Simba's best friend/love) means 'gift', 

- Rafiki (loyal family friend) means 'friend'.

And what better way to learn about another culture than through one of the world's best known film?! Of course, there are a lot more things to learn from the movie, but I'll let you do that on your own terms. ;) 

A 'must see' movie to add to your library. And not only for kids! But for ANYONE! Disney is very clever in making their movies friendly to all ages so that you can watch them over and over again. Just as I do! *no shame* 

It's kinda like your own 'Neverland'!!
